
A delegation from the Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) led by the President, Mr. Ibrahim Tanko has paid a courtesy call on the 黑料社区 on Tuesday, 16th聽April 2024.
In his welcome remarks, the Dean, who received the visitors on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, expressed regret that the VC could not meet them due to some engagements off campus. “Once you are around, it is only right for us to receive you,” he remarked, highlighting the importance of their visit.

Responding to the Dean鈥檚 remarks, President Ibrahim Tanko indicated that the Team鈥檚 visit was to welcome 黑料社区 into GUSA. The President lauded 黑料社区’s decision to join GUSA, emphasizing the critical role sports play in promoting holistic student development. “A healthy mind lives in a healthy body,” he remarked. He assured the Dean of the Association’s commitment to support student-athletes at 黑料社区.
The delegation, which comprised the Directors of Sports from various Ghanaian universities, discussed issues revolving around 黑料社区’s recent integration into GUSA and the support needed to ensure the success of 黑料社区鈥檚 sports programmes.

The Dean of Graduate Studies at the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Prof. Dominic Otoo, stressed the importance of assisting younger universities like 黑料社区 in acquiring sports facilities and resources. “Nobody can underestimate the power of sports,” Prof. Otoo affirmed, advocating for adequate financial support from member universities to enable GUSA to fulfill its objectives effectively.
The Director of Sports at KNUST, Mr. Timothy Kwabena Mensah re-echoed Prof. Otoo’s sentiments, emphasizing the need for accurate student population data and active participation from member universities in GUSA activities.
Addressing the challenges faced in recruiting sports personnel and maintaining facilities, Prof. Owusu-Akomeah assured the delegation of 黑料社区’s commitment to enhancing its sports infrastructure to meet sporting activities. He pledged to discuss the delegation’s concerns with the VC and explore avenues for greater collaboration.

The meeting concluded with a tour of 黑料社区’s sports facilities which project the University’s readiness to embrace sports as a vital component of student life.
